Building Trust
in NGP

To help make a meaningful contribution to tobacco harm reduction, it’s crucial we offer consumers high quality, regulated next generation products (NGP) they can trust.

As a responsible manufacturer everything we do – from product design and manufacture to marketing – is undertaken with adult smokers and existing adult nicotine users in mind.

Altogether, a vast number of pre- and post-market processes, systems, and teams work in harmony to ensure our approach to creating NGP is comprehensive and rigorous.

This helps us build trust with regulators, public health, and consumers both before – and after – our products reach the market.

These reviews continue for all our NGP across their lifecycles. Watch the video below to find out more.

Naturally, we’re committed to fully understanding the products we’re selling.

Our in-house team of professional toxicologists conduct a mixture of desk and laboratory-based assessments to build a comprehensive picture of our NGP safety profiles.

We only use nicotine, propylene glycol, and glycerol in our e-liquids, along with the highest quality flavourings. We also exclude certain ingredients, including those that are carcinogenic or banned by regulators in certain markets, including diacetyl and vitamin E acetate.

Our toxicological assessment processes also utilise a variety of methodologies, many of which are part of our ethical Alternatives to Animal Testing programme.

Quality Matters

At Imperial Brands, Quality starts with the consumer. We articulate our approach simply: ‘Get it Right, Keep it Right, and Deal with Wrong’.

  • We get it right by having the consumer define their expectations, and designing NGP that fulfil and even exceed those expectations.
  • We keep it right by sustaining the design excellence through manufacture and distribution, with continuous improvement of rigorous quality assurance processes which assess our NGP through a consumer-focused lens.
  • And, if things occasionally go awry, we deal with wrong quickly, responsibly, and transparently, making sure the same mistakes won’t happen again – always with consumers in mind.

Rogue Players and
Unintended Consequences

While most NGP markets have regulations in place manufacturers must comply with before products can be sold, some irresponsible players have caused certain categories – and the broader industry – severe reputational damage and undermined tobacco harm reduction.

Examples include illegal levels of nicotine in products, inappropriate flavours (e.g. dessert or confectionary), and irresponsible advertising – both in-store and on social media – which has attracted never-smokers like youth.

Imperial is proud of its long track record in minimising consumption of its products by unintended users, including young people, and we’re committed to reporting any organisations or individuals involved in unlawful activities to authorities.

Continuous Improvement

Our commitment to safeguarding our consumers never stops, and the vast amount of information and data gathered through our various activities is used to drive advances in both new NGP innovations and our safeguarding systems and processes themselves.

This means as our NGP portfolio continues to evolve all our products remain compliant with both our internal standards of care and external regulatory environments.

We’re proud to be a responsible manufacturer and believe our consumers can feel confident whenever they choose a NGP from Imperial Brands.
