What do we know about the physiological and health effects of heated tobacco? Find out more in this scientific research review infographic.
This four-page infographic contains a wealth of research data about heated tobacco (HT) in the published scientific literature. Inspired by an upcoming review paper containing over 330 references, it draws on work across multiple HT devices and research areas – from the impact of HT aerosol on molecular cell biology all the way to societal perceptions around the category.
Page 1 (Cells, Toxicants and Toxicology) deals with the levels of toxicants and HT aerosol’s effect on cells compared to combustible cigarette smoke.
Page 2 (Nicotine Delivery from Heated Tobacco) focuses on the tissue level, examining nicotine delivery and adult smoker satisfaction compared to combustible cigarettes.
Page 3 (Physiological Effects of Transitioning to Heated Tobacco) examines what happens at the organ-level and whole body physiology when adult smokers transition to HT from combustible cigarettes.
Page 4 (Air Quality, and How Heated Tobacco is Perceived) investigates HT’s impact on air quality, as well as consumer perceptions about HT.
Overall, we believe this latest infographic – and the increasing weight of the scientific evidence from which it’s derived – points to HT products having a central role to play in making a meaningful contribution to tobacco harm reduction.
